The Development of Education Action Network (DEAN Initiative) is a youth-led organisation working to strengthen democratic governance, civic participation, and accountability in Nigeria.

For over a decade, DEAN has mobilised and supported youth civic engagement across education, governance, and democracy. In preparation for the 2026 FCT Area Council Elections, DEAN is establishing the FCT Indigenous Youth Election Protection Vanguard 2026 as a structured, non-partisan youth platform to promote electoral integrity, civic responsibility, and credible youth participation in the electoral process.

Purpose of the Vanguard:

The FCT Indigenous Youth Election Protection Vanguard 2026 is designed to:
Promote youth involvement in democratic processes as a civic responsibility;
Support credible, non-partisan election observation and documentation;
Mobilise and sensitise youth clusters across FCT Area Councils;
Contribute to the production of the FCT Elections 2026: Youth Reflections Report.

Who We Are Looking For:

DEAN invites applications from indigenous/native/10years+ resident youths of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who are committed to democratic values, community leadership, and peaceful civic engagement. Applicants should:
Be indigenous to any FCT Area Council;
Be between 18–35 years;
Have a track record of community engagement, youth leadership, or civic work;
Demonstrate non-partisanship and respect for democratic processes;
Be willing to mobilise and coordinate a minimum of ten (10) youth clusters within their Area Council;
Have access to a smartphone and be comfortable using WhatsApp for coordination and reporting.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Selected Vanguard members will:
Participate in orientation and training on election observation and civic engagement;
Mobilise and coordinate youth clusters within their Area Council;
Conduct sensitisation and orientation activities with youth groups;
Support non-partisan election monitoring and documentation;
Participate in post-election reflection and reporting activities.
