KUBWA ARAB ROAD LIKE YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE!

The Arab Road has long been a road to avoid if you needed to get to your destination in good time.

Starting from Liberty Junction to the Kubwa-Zuba Express (Murtala Mohammed Expressway), the road has been simply difficult to use, from deep pot holes, to very rough road surfaces, to lanes merging at awkward locations. Let’s not even start with the dust that heavy trucks raise while transporting stone dust from the Zeberced quarry onto the road. It has been very difficult over the years.

But things are changing now!

The current administration in the FCT has seen the value of that stretch of road and is now ensuring it is completed and becomes motorable.

When completed, the road, which is curiously labelled Kagini-Karsana and Godfather Road at different sections, will become the longest road in Kubwa, overtaking the 5.5-kilometre Gado Nasko road with a total distance of about 9 kilometres from the expressway to Dutse Roundabout.

Already, the bridge at the IITA axis has long been completed. However, residents are curious about how the construction will be carried out around the train station overhead bridge, where one lane goes over the bridge, and the opposite lane goes under, and is blocked off right in front of some residential buildings.  You may want to know that in June 2023, Tenders were invited for the construction of the opposite lane with the following details:

Construction of 2nd Lane or Flyover across the Railway Line Tender

Notice for Construction of 2nd Lane or Flyover across the Railway Line in Arab Road Byazhin, Kubwa in Nigeria. The reference ID of the tender is 83837645 and it is closing on 28 Jun 2023.

This road will make commuting way easy for residents of F01, 2-1 and Village who may need an alternative road to Dei-Dei-Zuba-Suleja, and effective reducing traffic pressure on the Dutse junction by the express. It will also ease and extend movement for Keke riders and encourage other operators to ply the route.

Interestingly, the project is handled by Zeberced, the same company operating the quarry in Kubwa. This has ensured, from empirical checks, that the construction work is given closer attention to make sure that the road is solid enough to handle the weight of loaded trucks that come out of the quarry.

By aesthetics, the finished part of the road is beautiful and calm. It gives a glimpse of what the entire stretch will look and feel like when the work is done. This is a big plus to the residents of Kubwa, as an enhanced quality of life is unfolding.
