PARENTS & THEIR CHILDRENS FOOD .

A  non-localized survey that was carried out in 3 locations namely  Enugu ,Abuja (Garki, Mpape, Dutse, Gwarinmpa, Wuse, Dei-Dei, Zuba, Asokoro,  Kubwa) and Yenagoa from 2004 till 2026 and  it   showed a negative pattern that is fast becoming a trend in our homes. Parents (especially mothers) send out their children early in the morning to Mama put(local street food restaurants) to go and buy the food they will eat in school. Sometimes , parents themselves flood these locations inorder to swiftly purchase these foods for their children who are going to school very early in the morning.

The scary part of this growing negative pattern is that the food vendors compromise to cook these foods(out of sheer greed),unemployment has made people that don’t even have culinary skills come into the industry to make quick money at the expense of the customer. On the part of the children, these street food can lead the children to have fever, running stomach, cancer or even lead to their death.

We wonder why mothers cant cook for their children before they go to school? Why cant children wakeup early to cook their own meal that they will take to school? It is shocking that this trend is happening.  With the fact that these foods are cooked in the most unhygienic and unethical conditions ( and most of which are not so nutritious), its time our parents ensure that  their children carry home food as a more better option to school as it is cooked under safe sanitary                                                                                                            conditions and it is nutritious for  our children.  Mothers should go all out and stretch by ensuring that they prepare these meals for their children no matter how small. We will continue to drum beat this cause till  this very ugly trend ends, We demand for more home foods for our school children. We must deal with malnutrition now.
