Today I quietly sat and listened to an old music called Ariaria and I was shocked at the quality of the lyrics.(so encouraging ..so much positive vibes and a lot of spiritual uplifting words just in one old music).Listening to that old music that gave a whole lot of meaning about life .Old music actually makes a whole lot of sense and I have come to realize that it’s not about the rhythm and the beats but about the lyrics that makes or mars the music that we listen to today.
However, music is therapeutic .Music and Culture are both key to achieving the UN SDGs as they jointly promotes cultural activity and creativity and these trigger intellectual ability and inclusive educating capacities .
There is no secrets that the music industry operates on a global distribution ( based on regional radio air play and offline club airplays) which forms the terms of compensating the artists .Anyway, these artists in the past have witnessed governments restrictions on their songs as they seem to violate the good tastes and decency standards and these have made those musics/songs to be labelled “ not good for air play”or “ not air play worth” because some of them have significant embedded lyrics that can push the public to violence or incite the public to protests .
These days, a couple of music released regionally and internationally have lyrics that just don’t make sense in any way. These songs are not educational nor spiritually uplifting and they are not emotionally good .These songs are a combination of trash as lyrics .Songs are the very tools meant to informally educate us all but these days, we wonder if these songs heal us or they actually harm us. Will these songs via their air play serve future generations or buden them or completely erode integrity from our presence and future generations?
The question is mine but the answer is yours. Think deep right before you play that music or before you release that song (if you are an artist).
