Honourable Joshua Ishaku of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Bwari Area Council chairmanship election.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Mohammed Nurudeen of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced on Sunday, 22nd February 2026, after the collation and confirmation formalities, that Ishaku was the winner.
He declared that the candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) got a total of 4254 votes, while that of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) scored 3515 to come second and third respectively.

In the final declaration, Prof. Nurudeen said, “That Joshua Ishaku, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected.”
Ishaku polled a total of 18,466 votes to lead the other top two contenders from African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
