Members of Family Worship Centre (FWC) Kubwa 2, gathered on Sunday to celebrate the final day of their 2026 21-day session of fasting and prayers.
The period began on the 5th of January, and members gathered to pray together every day except Saturdays and Sundays. Fasting and prayer at the start of every new year has since become a tradition for FWC, as the leadership intend to set the spiritual tone and strengthen members’ faith as they begin the new year.
The period was marked by teachings and exhortations on various topics, with particular focus on the need to be thankful.
The atmosphere was exciting as the congregants sang and danced to energetic praise songs from the colourfully dressed Worship Team, followed by solemn songs that put the hall in a reflective mood. From the Bible, a portion was read from Psalm 100, which admonished that in approaching God, the “password” to use is “Thank You”.
In proceeding with the celebratory posture of the evening event, guest ministers were invited to lead the congregation in praising God, in the aspect they have experienced God using the words of the event conductor. The first of the two guests was Minister Ololade Awe, who masterfully presented popular Christian worship songs, putting the audience in the mood for worship and adoration of God in a solemn atmosphere and later transitioning into a danceable repertoire of songs to the delight of the grateful worshippers.
The preacher pointed to the fact that there is always something for God to bless His people with, as in the case of the lame man at the gate begging for alms, whose right hand was the contact through which he was pulled to his feet.
The Worship Team of the church presented a well-rehearsed song afterwards, declaring “My God is awesome” in a call-and-response type of musical arrangement.
In his sermon for the evening, the Branch Pastor of FWC Kubwa2, Pastor Gabriel Iyanna, began by pronouncing the evening “an evening of total change” and “a night of total recovery”, encouraging his members to be expectant, as expectation is the catalyst for the miraculous. He preached on faith as the only requirement to pleasing God and the main necessity for navigating 2026, as there is bound to be happenings that will require the exercise of faith.

The impactful message was followed by the ministry of Chris Morgan, a renowned gospel music minister, who has made a tremendous contribution to Christian music in Nigeria and around the world, and has been a blessing to many through his ministry.
Minister Chris Morgan reiterated some key points from the pastor’s message and assured the congregation that as they “worship God today, there will be a recovery of everything that has been denied you”. Then, by his leading, worshippers were propelled into another round of intense worship sessions, interposed by testimonies, prayers and prophecies.
The charged atmosphere remained through to the point the pastor anointed members of the church with oil, assisted by the Deacons, accompanied by words of blessing. The anointing signified a seal over the prayers that have been made in the past 21 days and a covering for the rest of the year.
Speaking to InsideKubwa.com after the service, the pastor captured the significance of the fasting period and the expectation of leadership for the people. In his words “Family Worship Centre as a whole, in a corporate fast like this; one of our expectations is the heart of Jesus, that the people will get to know Jesus by themselves, for themselves”. He stated that this is the declaration for the membership of the church this year, and that during the fasting period, there are a lot of teachings on ground meant to strengthen the people and that they only need to build on it. He added “This year for [FWC] Kubwa 2 specifically, we are saying that the gift we will give to God is the gift of one soul, at least just a soul. So as long as the fast is about the Kingdom and about touching humanity, [things] will change”. He further added “we would not fast because we want a car; unbelievers don’t fast to buy a car. We would not fast because we want a breakthrough, we fast because we want to expand the Kingdom of God, we want to make sure humanity is touched. As we do that, every other thing the Bible said will be added”. He concluded by saying, “it’s been a wonderful experience, we give God praise”.

When asked about his experience as a minister for the evening, and also being his first time in Family Worship Centre Kubwa 2, Minister Chris Morgan, who took a break from greeting and praying for people, expressed excitement, stating “Wow, God is faithful, Family Worship Centre Kubwa 2, an amazing time in God’s presence, we were blessed; the glory of God was on to heal, to deliver and to minister to people; and above all there will be testimonies, unusual record-breaking testimonies. I’m happy, my experience here is wonderful; happy people, cheerful people, God’s presence everywhere. We celebrate you”.
Minister Ololade Awe also spoke to us about her experience. She declared, “The joy was palpable, I could see people that just want to be led to the Throne Room, and it was a wonderful experience for me”. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity.
The Worship Team of the church came out nicely and sang in the most melodious and cohesive manner. The assistant leader of the team Mrs Grace Bature, speaking as it were from her heart, pertaining how the team was galvanised to be such a blessing, said, “Sincerely, tonight’s experience was awesome. We prayed, we fasted, we expected, and God came through. Everything that we do is all about God, and all we expect is that while we keep knowing God for ourselves, we believe He will come through for us. Tonight was a mind-blowing experience, and God has been faithful”.
An excited Worship Team leader, Mr Ifiok Udoh, speaking, said this has been his best 21 days of prayer and fasting, having determined to go through the rigours of the period without breaking. He went on to say on the back of the successful period of spiritual preparation, “We’ve set a course for my ministry moving forward this year, a lot of activities are going to take place this year. God is going to help us because we’ve set the course, we’ve prayed, and we’ve fasted. With God on our side, we are going to achieve a lot this year”. For the church, he believes that music as a tool of evangelism must be handled with excellence; “so we are going to use our music to draw men and women into His (God’s) Kingdom”, he stated with resolve.
The evening concluded with members of the church setting up food points where they shared different kinds of meals in a true communal setting that was admirable.
