AFCON2025: WAS THAT A WIN?

Published

on

The TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025 has one match left! It has been 27 days of testing skills and cohesion among the teams from participating nations. Now the top three countries have been decided, and as expected, Nigeria made it!

The match against the Egyptian side was one in which the Nigerian Super Eagles once again showed how competent they can be against any footballing opponent in the world.

The third-place match has always been a consolation, but an equally important match as it positions the winning team among the elites, only that for most fans, it holds no real excitement.

For the whole 90 minutes, the Eagles held their own against a relentless Egyptian side in a goaless encounter leading to a decider via penalty shootout yet again for the Eagles, and they won with the same margin with which they lost against the hosts Morocco: 4-2

But Kubwa residents seemed unimpressed as the tumultuous roars that greeted the Eagles’ qualification for the semi-final were not heard anywhere. Fans really wanted a place in the final, and so the great feat of going one against the Pharaohs seemed routine and taken for granted.

The general question of the Kubwa fans conveyed in their mood is, “Was that a win?”

Surely it was, and it was a big win that many did not see coming.

Congratulations to Morocco 2025 TotalEnergies AFCON Bronze medalists, the Super Eagles of Nigeria!
