The FCT Water Board is arguably the most effective public utility provider in the areas where its services cover. Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have become accustomed to how reliable the water supply has been, and some homes do not see the need to install water reservoirs in their homes. Consequently, whenever there is a disruption in water supply for an extended period (usually a few hours), residents are left stranded as a result of the lack of water storage arrangements in their homes.
Residents of Kubwa that we sampled expressed enthusiasm about paying for the service. It may interest you to note that the tariff for metered water supply for domestic use is ₦ 110.00 per cubic meter. One cubic meter is equal to 1000 litres of water. The board has, over the years, ensured that residents are well supplied with as minimal disruption as possible.
The inability of the Board to issue new water bills is a result of technical difficulties faced by the organisation and its partners.
The FCT Water Board has also been active with their revenue drive by way of taking meter readings and issuing bills due for the previous consumption period, for which residents make active efforts to pay, as may be seen in banks and other utility payment outlets.
However, from around April 2025, many residents in Kubwa have observed that new bills have not been issued, leading to concern about bills piling up for them.
InsideKubwa.com made attempts to reach the Customer Service for information on the situation through the published customer service number on the Board’s website, but the call was not successful. However, speaking with some staff members of the Kubwa Area office who preferred not to be named, the inability of the Board to issue new water bills is a result of technical difficulties faced by the organisation and its partners. This has lingered for a while; they were not able to confirm when the issue will be resolved.

They advised that customers should endeavour to make payments every month using old bills as a reference in order to prevent bill amounts piling up when the Board eventually resumes issuance of bills. They hinted that water supply facilities were being expanded to reach unserved and new settlements. They spoke highly of the leadership of the Minister of the FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, and the General Manager (Acting), Mr Daniel Salka Audu, in their effort to keep the organisation actively working.
